NOW WE PRESENT YOU WITH OUR NEWEST ADDITIONS :
''At some point in the late 60's they changed equipment at Abbey Road from tube-driven to solidstate gear, prior to the recording of the Abbey Road album. Any albums made before that change are thusly called "tube cuts." The -2/-2 Sgt Pepper was cut after the change to solid state gear, so the -1/-1 is the only "tube cut" of the stereo Pepper (not sure about the mono). Maybe someone with better knowledge of the subject than I can chime in.
Prior to this 'drop from Mirror Spock I don't think anyone had done a transfer from a tube cut stereo Sgt Pepper (or any other tube cut album except maybe the White Album), mainly(?) because mint sounding copies are difficult to find.
Now a review of Belmo (one of the greatest Beatles authorities in the world) on our needledrops who had access to these drops prior to you, Beatlefriends (this is the Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Tube Cut drop) :
''I only had about 5 minutes to sample this disc (between my daughter's tv show ending and my other daughter having to study) and I must say that I was blown away by the sound representation coming out of my speakers! How the hell did they do it? Wow! You know, with many great sounding discs from the likes of Ebbetts, Dledin, I really couldn't imagine something surpassing all these other attempts by that much. At this point I figure it's gotta be trivial improvements and all a matter or whose technique sounds best. But this pristine tube cut disc is immaculate. Flawless at this point. ''
